2020 QED Reductio ad Absurdum
2020 QED Reductio ad Absurdum
Winemaker Notes: The 2020 QED Reductio ad Absurdum is powerful and concentrated. Deep purple color with bouquet of ripe blackberry, black plum, tar, bacon fat, smoked game, violet, smoldering incense, and garrigue. The concentrated palate is both rich and powerful as well as graceful and harmonious. Well delineated palate flavors of blackberry, huckleberry, smoked game, white pepper, aged cigar tobacco, leather, garrigue, black olive, and dark chocolate. The beautiful finish resonates with savory notes of garrigue, violet, bacon fat, and cigar tobacco. Perfectly balanced with ripe, luscious tannins and lively acidity. This wine will continue to improve for the next 8-10 years and should drink well for the next 15+ years.

Technical Details: The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration of 130 hours and a post-fermentation maceration of 128 hours. The wine was punched down by hand 2 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All of the lots in the blend were fermented with native yeasts. Thirty percent whole clusters were used. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The wine had an elevage of 19 months in French Oak. The oak profile is 30% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 70% neutral French oak. The wine achieved its sparkly brilliance from 3 judicious rackings, no fining agents were employed. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees. The alcohol is 14.7%, pH is 3.78, and the titratable acidity is 6.1 g/L.
