2017 Veritas Sequitur Estate Syrah
Tasting notes
The 2017 Veritas Sequitur is an utterly breathtaking wine, both aromatically and on the palate—Syrah does not get any better than this! This wine has a dense, dark purple color with a compelling bouquet of blackberry, framboise, olive tapenade, white pepper, Asian spices, garrigue, bacon fat, truffle, stony minerality, and forest floor. It is a medium-plus bodied wine with very high flavor density. The palate defines elegance and finesse, with refined tannins and well delineated notes of black plum, framboise, bacon fat, truffle, aged cigar tobacco, white pepper, garrigue, black olive, Asian spices, dark chocolate, and leather. The very long finish resolves with savory, umami notes of truffle, bacon fat, white pepper, and stony minerality. The wine showcases elegant structure, exquisite balance, and incredible flavor purity. This wine will continue to improve for the next 8-10 years and should drink well for the next 15+ years.
Production notes
The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration of 135 hours and a post-fermentation maceration of 140 hours. The wine was punched down by hand 3 times each day during macerations and fermentation. 100% whole cluster and 100% native fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The wine had an elevage of 30 months in French Oak. The oak profile is 100% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers). The wine achieved its sparkly brilliance from 3 judicious rackings, no fining agents were employed. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees. The alcohol is 14.1%, pH is 4.04, and the titratable acidity is 6.2 g/L. 225 Cases produced.

2017 Rasa Vineyards ‘Veritas Sequitur’ Syrah
Sourced from the famed ‘SJR Vineyard’ in the Walla Walla Rocks AVA, the 2017 ‘Veritas Sequitur’ is an utterly spectacular new Syrah that was aged in 100% new French oak before bottling. The nose is downright intoxicating with black olive tapenade, soy sauce, violets, smoldering stones and shades of white pepper dusted bacon. The wine is seamless and pillowy. While overt and rich, everything is impeccably balanced here. The salty and savory tones add to the enjoyment as this is drinking beautifully now and will continue to evolve well over the next decade. Drink 2021-2031- 97 Points, Owen Bargreen, Vinous
