100% Syrah, SJR Vineyards, Rocks District, Walla Walla AVA
The 2015 Veritas Sequitur is an ethereal, illuminating beauty (I am admittedly biased). This wine has a dense, dark purple color with a compelling bouquet of black plum, framboise, white pepper, Asian spices, garrigue, bacon fat, truffle, black olive, stony minerality, and forest floor. It is a medium-plus bodied wine with very high flavor density. The palate defines elegance and finesse, with refined, well delineated notes of black plum, framboise, bacon fat, truffle, aged cigar tobacco, white pepper, garrigue, black olive, Asian spices, dark chocolate, and leather. The very long finish resolves with savory notes of truffle, bacon fat, white pepper, and stony minerality. The wine showcases elegant structure, exquisite balance, and incredible flavor purity. Dare I say it, this is as good as Syrah gets! This wine will continue to improve for the next 8-10 years and should drink well for the next 15+ years.

The 2015 ‘Veritas Sequiter’ Syrah is a true heavyhitter of a wine made by superstar winemaker Billo Naravane, MW, which was sourced from the esteemed ‘SJR Vineyard’ and underwent 100% whole cluster fermentation. The wine was stored in 90% new French oak prior to bottling. On the nose there is wonderful range from exotic spices to Satsuma orange peel to shades of blueberry pie... The seductive nose constantly takes you back to the glass for more hedonism. The plush texture truly entices as black cherry compote, leather, espresso bean, blueberry pie and shades of milk chocolate and a savory edge which all meld marvelously together on the mouth. The texture dazzles, as the rich, almost unctuous mouthfeel adds to the drinking. enjoyment. While fantastic in its youth, this will cellar well for a decade or more. Drink 2019-2029.

Immediately impressive, the 2015 Veritas Sequitur bursts from the glass with seductive tones of blackberry, finely ground peppercorn medley, dried spices and mineral tension, as well as exotic red and purple flowers that lift the expression, capturing your attention with an elegant oak presence. Full-bodied, the wine unfolds and evolves on the palate with fantastic complexity, balance and precision. The finish is long and thoughtful, lingering with a dark-fruited chewiness. This is a food-friendly wine that will drink well for more than a decade. Only 135 cases made. Bravo!
