2013 The Composer
Winemaker Notes: Light straw in color, the wine offers superb aromatics of apple, pear, spice, petrol, and white flowers. The aromatic complexity follows through on the palate with notes of spice, mineral, wet stone, apple, pear, and lime. Nuances of mineral and petrol echo on the long, vibrant finish. High flavor intensity and concentration on a tight, linear frame. Properly cellared it should gracefully evolve over the next decade.
Cooperage: The wine greatly benefited from an 18 month elevage on fine lees in neutral oak barrels.
Fermentation: 100% Riesling, blend of 3 clones - Geisenheim 110, Geisenheim 198 and Neustadt 90 from Bacchus and Dionysus Vineyards. 10.9 g/L residual sugar, TA 7.4 g/L. Cooperage 60% neutral oak fermentation, 40% stainless steel fermentation.
