Winemaker Notes: This is our third vintage of our Cabernet Franc and it is our best. Beautifully nuanced aromatics of violet, lavender, black currant, earth, sandalwood, vanilla, spice, and truffle. Medium-plus body with the cassis, black cherry fruit notes are gently counterbalanced with violet, vanilla, spice, espresso, dark chocolate, truffle, and cigar tobacco notes. The very long, crisp finish echoes floral and cassis notes. A beautiful feminine styled wine-- all grace and elegance. The vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and excellent balance suggest great aging potential. Properly cellared, this wine will evolve gracefully for 15+ years.

Fermentation: The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration of 115 hours and a post-fermentation maceration of 45 hours. 100% Native fermentation. The wine was punched down by hand 3 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The wine achieved its sparkly brilliance from 3 judicious rackings, no fining agents were employed. The wine was very gently filtered using crossflow filtration. The alcohol is 14.5%, pH is 3.71, and the titratable acidity is 6.3 g/L. 94 Cases produced.

Cooperage: Elevage was 30 months in 40% new French oak and 60% neutral French oak.

Building on the QED line, Rasa's 2012 QED Axiom of Choice is a new cuvee made from 100% Cabernet Franc. It's a thrilling Cabernet Franc, and I continue to be impressed with what this variety can acheive in Washington State. Blackcurrants, raspberries, forest floor, crushed flowers and hints of chocolate all emerge from the glass, and on the palate, this beautiful 2012 is medium to full-bodied, silky and polished, with fine tannin and a solid finish. Like all of the wines from the Naravane brothers, it's well made, balanced and has the ability to drink nicely in its youth, yet age gracefully.

This well-made wine is made from Weinbau vineyard Cab Franc, one of the more famous state sites for the varietal. It opens with lovely aromas of red cherry, crushed flowers, raspberry and dill. There are flavors of red cherry, pomegranate, anise and dill. Delicious and lithe with a wonderful minerality. Only 236 cases made of this delicious wine that is up there with the best Cab Franc produced in this state. (Best 2015-2028)
